Our internship program trains high school and college students from all over the United States. These students work in areas such as Social Media and Marketing, Fundraising, Blogging and Writing, Office Administration, Human Resources, Case Management, Web Design, Volunteer Management and more! We give interns an opportunity to work on real-world projects and develop transferable skills.
Interning for a nonprofit gives you a chance to work for a good cause. Safe Harbor International Ministries is currently seeking enthusiastic and resourceful interns (all remote positions). We are a domestic violence and resource training center for counselors, law enforcement, social workers, church leaders, human service agencies, court officials, victim advocates, mental health professionals, caregivers, community partners, nonprofits, & educators.

Internship Job Descriptions
Requirements: Currently enrolled students in a college/university/certification program with a major focus in english, communications, marketing, social media, clerical, web design, journalism, public relations, digital marketing, political science human resources, psychology, sociology, case management, business administration, childcare development, criminal justice, IT, nonprofit management, general business or a relevant content area. Must be a sophomore, junior, senior, graduate student or recent graduate. *Please note that all high school students must get permission from their school advisors before applying to our program.
Compensation: Currently, all of our internship positions are unpaid. Safe Harbor International Ministries is a Non-profit organization and we encourage you to pursue course credit for this internship, or external grant opportunities if those are available. Safe Harbor International Ministries will, to the best of its ability, complete university/college requirements required for the student to receive course credit.
Availability: Available to work for 10 to 20 hours per week.
Internship Duration: We are looking for interns who can also commit to a minimum of 6 months to 1 year due to nature of projects.
Location: Must be able to work remotely, attend web meetings with Team Members and Executive Director on a weekly basis. (meetings are held virtually via ZOOM on Wednesdays at 5:30 PM EST)
Supervision: Intern will report to their assigned team leader and the Executive Director.
Executive Director (ED) Assistant
Executive Director (ED) Assistant intern candidates are reliable and motivated individuals that assist the Executive Director in the day to day operations of a nonprofit organization (remotely). Interns will assist the Executive Director in the management of the day to day operations of a nonprofit. They will help manage virtual office responsibilities, assist in managing team meetings, program development, managing data and updating information in our database, writing fundraising collateral, from brochures to email appeals to thank you notes, agency emails and letters to donors and volunteers, and assist the Executive Director with fundraising projects. This position is great for an individual who wants to learn and experience hands on training with a nonprofit.

Responsibilities
- Help manage virtual office responsibilities

Human Resources (HR)
As an HR intern, your duties will include posting volunteer positions/jobs, reviewing resumes, conducting interviews, and assisting with updating intern employee/volunteer handbook. HR interns will gain work experience to build their resume. Students participating in this internship will allow them to learn to interact with diverse personalities, and assist them in determining if they are well-suited to career opportunities in this field. They will be exposed to a variety of areas in Human Resources including recruiting, selection, writing handbooks, and training.
Responsibilities
- Job Analysis (Help design or interpret job analysis questionnaires, assist with writing or updating job descriptions and volunteer descriptions, help with performing job analysis interviews)
- Recruiting (Help choose recruiting sources, help Design/place web or print ads)
- Selection (Participate in intern job and volunteer interviews, enter intern job application data, screen volunteer applications, help design a selection system)
- Employee Handbooks (Research information for employee handbooks, and Write or update them)
- Training (Help design, evaluate, and deliver a training program)

Office Administration
Office Administration intern candidates are reliable and motivated individuals that handle office management responsibilities (remote position). The intern will manage reception responsibilities, tracking volunteer hours, agency emails and letters to potential donors and volunteers, fundraising projects, editing blog posts, blogging, monthly newsletters.

Social Media
Job Description:
We are looking for a highly analytical thinker with an audience-first mindset for the role of Social Media Intern. Candidates will learn how to be experts in social media analytics, understand the nuances, advantages and shortcomings of each platform and know how to utilize data in formulating a campaign strategy.
Social media interns work with a team of social media content creators, bloggers, and will require excellent interpersonal and communicative skills, as well as demonstrate sound leadership and decision-making ability.
Responsibilities
- Create content for facebook, instagram, pinterest, and other social media platforms using design tools.
- Orchestrating digital content strategies across all online platforms.
- Driving traffic and engagement that translates into engagement, followers, sales and brand promotion.
- Create and maintain a social media calendar.
- Measuring the results of marketing activity to inform future marketing campaigns.
- Implementing SEO best practices.
- Knowing what kinds of content are best suited to which platforms.
- Designing and implementing creative marketing strategies to disseminate content
Qualifications

Web/Graphic Design
Candidates will use their skills in UI, WordPress, website layout and design, and more to help craft and edit the website for Safe Harbor International Ministries.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with designing and modifying websites and design websites using WordPress.
- Maintain, expand, and scale websites as needed.
- Assist with creating website layout/user interface by using standard HTML/CSS practices.
- Integrate data from various back-end services and databases.
- Evaluate and identify new technologies for implementation.
Learning objectives:
- Learn how to work with other web designers (team members) on gathering content for current projects.
- Learn how to use Canva and other design tools to create visually appealing content, graphics and images.
- Learn how to give and take constructive feedback on project ideas.
- Learn how to communicate effectively with other team members on assigned projects.

Qualifications

Writer/Blogger
Candidates for the Writer/Blogger position will work with our Safe Harbor Blog — they will pitch ideas, research, and write about various engaging and current topics. We are looking for talented Writers/Bloggers to generate engaging, original content for our website and our monthly newsletter.
The Blogger will research topics and develop interesting posts that will appeal to our target audience and promote the blog using social media, direct email, and other methods to alert and expand our readership.
You should be a skilled, tech-savvy writer who can create appealing, insightful posts that will reach and grow our audience.
To succeed as a Blogger, you should be focused on generating and composing interesting content and expanding your readership. You should be creative, adaptable, and analytical with excellent writing skills and a unique voice.
Responsibilities

- Promoting new posts using advertisements, emails, social media, and other methods to alert and attract new readers.
